Gentoo Linux, Mac OS X Tiger And Windows On The Acer Travelmate 290
I have successfully installed Mac OS X Tiger onto my Acer Travelmate 290.
This means that my trusty budget Acer Travelmate 290 now dual-boots with Gentoo Linux and Mac OS X Tiger and runs Windows within VMware Linux.

you are such a poser! Get a life! Go get Apple hardware instead. By doing this you are jsut behaving like a hacker, since Apple does not allow Mac OS X to boot on other loser machines
I can tell that both of you belong to the lower breed of Apple fanboys who are immature, aren't used to proper english and do not even understand the proper usage of the term hacker.
Your Macs are probably mainly used for web-surfing, trolling forums, blogs etc. Sadly under-utilised. PEBKAC.
I had installed Mac OS X to see if I could code a DVB device driver using the MMInput Family package for Mac Intels. Your Macs would be much better in my hands.

btw, any idea what can be done with a wireless connection on my Acer 290 that suddenly failed to connect one new morning? it was working fine for 2 years!
the properties window shows the Wireless PRO 2100 BC adapter is working fine.. and the suspected driver w70n51.sys (ver 1.1.6.0) was reinstalled successfully.... but still failed to connect. The WZC service failed to start although the RPC and TCP/IP stuff are nicely in place.The D-Link router has no problem.

Nice work! great inginuity using a budget (useless on windoze) machine for something useful, educational and informative. The best 2 operating systems on the planet (Gentoo and Os-X) running on the same gear.... GREAT! Shame you need windoze at all really.
I wonder if you have wireless working under Os-X86? Seems like there are some issues with the .kext files for that.

First things first. I agree with aerotus, the first two posts are most likely by those who SERIOUSLY underutilise mac. Now secondly kudos to you arnold. I tried osx86ing on my 290 aswell. Never could get the wireless working - Good Job.
Ah sweet. I just installed OS X on my Acer laptop as well. The only problem is searching for drivers for it.
Mine's a TravelMate 8102WLCi, how did you get drivers for yours? :D

I also have the same acer tm 290, and I'd like to know if the wireless WIFI connection works well or you are cable connected.
If it works i won't dither and install it too!

i am trying to install the mac os on my travel mate 290, The kalyway 10.5.1 version. though the dvd boots fine on my desktop, i am unable to boot from it on my acer. its says checking cdrom drive and then "non emulation boot" can u tell me whats the problem here ????
